Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:

 

1) CVS Proposal

The Planning Board will discuss the North Woburn CVS proposal at the Mr. Charlie's site. The CVS proposal is slated under special permits public hearings. According to the Planning Board, the site is made up of: 1 School Street, 3 School Street, 13 School Street, 891 Main Street, 893 Main Street and 895 Main Street. Meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall.

2) Woburn redevelopment

The Woburn Redevelopment Authority is also scheduled to meet today at the City Hall Committee Room at 5 p.m. On the agenda: Walnut Hill Parking Deck, an update on the Woburn Loop and the storefront sign program.  

 

3) SNOW!

According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, the city may see some snow this afternoon! Expect some white flakes between 1 and 3 p.m. A hazardous weather outlook has been called for the area, since the minimal accumulation, combined with some rain, could cause slippery roads. 

 

4) In case you missed it

There was a lot going on in the city over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Check in with what calls were reported to Woburn Police, including one of an 11-year-old left alone in a hotel room.

 

5) Headlines in history

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? Some headlines in newspapers regarding Nov. 27 events in Woburn were:

  • 1903—Loss At Woburn—Two alarm fire in downtown Woburn damaged several businesses.
  • 1923—Chapitbeski Under Bonds In Death of Woburn Man—Jones Avenue man held on bond for death of another.
  • 1954—Woburn Wins C Crown, Tops Winchester, 18-13—Woburn has its best football season and wins the Class C Crown for the first time.
