1) Event spotlight

2) Oktoberfest needs volunteers

The city's Oktoberfest celebration is looking for volunteers to help with the event. A volunteer meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Spence Farm.

3) A 50% chance of a washout

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 50-50 chance we'll see rain today. The NWS is forecasting a chance of showers after 9 a.m. this morning, with mostly cloudy skies all day. Expect temperatures to be in the high-70s, though. Some wind may accompany the clouds, as NWS forecasters are predicting winds with gusts as high as 32 miles per hour.

4) In case you missed it

The big news yesterday was the question of whether popular sports bar Dave & Busters is coming to Woburn. According to city officials, representatives have been in conversations to schedule a meeting, but no proposal has been filed yet. Click here to join the conversation between residents whether this is a good or bad thing for the city of Woburn.

5) RIP, Mr. Maguire

On this day in 1952, Thomas J. Maguire passed away. He was the father of Woburn Police Chief Thomas Maguire, which made him the grandfather of Woburn Police Officer Jack Maguire, who was killed in the line of duty in Woburn in 2010. Mr. Maguire was born in 1928. His son, Jack's father, died at age 71 in 1985.
