5T: Warmer Temps in Store for Wednesday

Make sure to check in with today's column of news, events, history and more.

Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:

1) Making a memory pillow

The first of a two-program workshop is today at the Senior Center. For today's session bring a piece of fabric from a loved one. You will begin making your "memory pillow" during the 10 a.m. program.

2) Patch in your Inbox

Everyone gets busy during the day. Whether you're working 9 to 5, or taking care of the kids, our days fly by with activity after activity. 3) Warm & windy!

According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, it's going to be a warm wintry day today. Expect temperatures to be close to 50 degrees. But we'll also have wind, about 5 to 10 miles per hour, with some gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

4) In case you missed it

At Patch, we like to take a look at how communities compare in different ways. Yesterday, we took a look at several tax rates throughout the area. See how Woburn figured into the mix here.

5) Historic Headline

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? A headline in the newspaper regarding Jan. 7 events in Woburn was:

  • 1939—Woburn May Vote To Close Schools—The Woburn School Board was scheduled to meet to discuss closing the public schools for three months due to a $45,000 deficit in funding.
