Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:


1) Don't forget

The deadline to register to vote for the presidential election is coming up next week. Make sure to submit your voter registration to City Hall by Oct. 17.  

2) WMHS conferences

Woburn Memorial High School teachers will be on hand tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. for parent conferences.


3) Send us your photos!

As you know, every day, we run a special "Photo of the Day" at 10 a.m. All of these photos are sent in by our readers and represent a wide variety of life that is found in Woburn. We are running low on submissions, but we know there are photos out there! Send us your pictures—vacations, pool parties, barbecues, puppies, cats, kids, babies... you name it, we want to see it! 5) Headlines in history

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? Some headlines in newspapers regarding Oct. 10 events in Woburn were:

  • 1915—Woburn Boy Killed By Automobile—A 13-year-old boy is killed after running out in front of a car on Main Street.
  • 1923—Stoneham High Girls Win At Field Hockey At Woburn—Game was played at Library Field.
  • 1964—Can't Spell It—Woburn Post Office reports receiving letters with 123 different spellings of Woburn.
  • 2005—No Charges Filed In Wake Of Fatal Oct. 10 Accident—Newspaper delivery truck driver is not charged in fatal accident at East Woburn gas station.
