5T: Woburn Police Increases Presence at Schools

1) Police at schools

The Woburn Police Department increased its presence at public schools yesterday, and will continue to do so for the rest of the week. According to School Superintendent Mark Donovan, the police officers at schools is "a show of support from Chief Ferullo and the Woburn Police Department." To read Supt. 2) CVS discussion

The big item on the City Council agenda tonight is the discussion of a special permit for a CVS store and drive-thru in North Woburn. According to the City Clerk's office, the public hearing is first up on the agenda after meeting minutes and the mayor's correspondence.

 

3) 100% chance of rain

According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, we are going to have another dreary day in the city today. Rain is expected all day, with fog coming around for the evening commute. Temperatures will range in the mid-50s most of the day before dropping into the 30s overnight.

 

4) In case you missed it

The Woburn Police responded to several calls over the weekend, including several weather-related accidents. In one instance, a woman's vehicle slid off the road and into a tree. The police officer followed the woman home to ensure that she and her vehicle got home safely. Read the entire police log here.

 

5) Historic Headline

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? A headline in the newspaper regarding Dec. 18 events in Woburn was:

  • 1920—No Clew To Man Who Attacked Woburn Girl—An 18-year-old Main Street woman is attacked in her sleep at her parents' home. The woman was unconscious for nearly five hours after the beating.
