5T: Women's Self Defense Seminar This Friday and Saturday

Today is Monday, May 6. Here are five things to know:

1) Sunny skies

Looks like another nice day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect sunny skies with a high near 67 degrees. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 46.

2) Public meetings

The Woburn Council on Aging is meeting at 10 a.m. in the Veteran's Memorial Senior Center. The Woburn Council on Aging Transportation Committee is meeting at 11:30 a.m. in the Veteran's Memorial Senior Center.

3) Women's self defense seminar

Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts is holding a women's self defense seminar this Friday and Saturday (separate classes) for women aged 13 and older. The seminar will feature both tips to avoid becoming a victim and basic martial arts moves that can be used if necessary. Click here for more information and to register.

4) Baby boot camp

The Winchester Recreation Department, 263 Main St., Winchester, is holding a Baby Boot Camp for Winchester and Woburn mothers at 9:30 a.m. this morning. Baby Boot Camp is an innovative stroller-fitness program that helps moms regain or enhance pre-pregnancy fitness levels and meet the physical challenges of parenting by emphasizing strength training in a supportive environment. 5) Jimmy V Fund fundraiser

The Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill has partnered up with Cornona to raise money for The Jimmy V Fund.  All of the Scoreboard staff are selling paper basketballs to be hung up around the restaurant.  The Jimmy V Fund is for cancer research. They will be selling the basketballs till the end of March Madness.
