Celtics Honor Three Woburnites

Dora Masciave, Mickie Chou and Komsan Say named Heroes Among Us.

Dora Masciave, Mickie Chou and Komsan Say were honored as Boston Celtics' Heroes Among Us recipients at an Aug. 1 ceremony at the State House.

The trio was chosen for the Heroes Among Us honor for their quick response when Dora found a fellow colleague, Mark, unconscious in the file room after suffering from a stroke. Dora called to her co-workers Mickie and Komsan, who stayed by Mark's side while Dora called 911. Mark made a full recovery due to the trio's actions.

The Heroes Among Us award, established by the Celtics thirteen years ago, recognizes outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities, according to a Heroes Among Us statement.

Their achievements include individual acts of courage, saving lives, sacrificing for others, overcoming obstacles to achieve their goals, and a lifelong commitment to enhancing the lives of others. More than 600 individuals have been honored since the inception of the program, said officials.

“Every story is an amazing testament of the courage and strength of the individuals that we honor at this ceremony each summer,” Celtics Legend Tom “Satch” Sanders said.

The program is sponsored by the Massachusetts State Lottery and supported by Comcast SportsNet New England and WEEI-AM.

“I am truly inspired by the accounts of selflessness and heroism that are being shared today,” said Treasurer Steven Grossman. “The Lottery is honored to partner with the Boston Celtics in recognizing these true champions for the amazing contributions they have made to their respective communities and to the Commonwealth. Thanks to each and every one of you for being a team player.”
