UPDATED: Donations Being Accepted for Fire Victims

Wilmington business sets up donation collection for Greene family after two-alarm fire destroys belongings.

Friday, 10:30 a.m.: The community has rallied around a family whose home was destroyed by a two-alarm fire yesterday morning. 

According to a Facebook public event page, more than 400 people have "attended" the event and donated to the family online. This morning, the Wakefield Police Department donated several toys to the Greene family's four children. 

Donations are still being accepted.

Thursday, 5 p.m. - A Wilmington store is setting up a donation collection for the Hinston Road family who lost just about everything they owned in a .

Clothing Warehouse has set up a toy and cash collection for the Greene family. Josh Clark, of Clothing Warehouse, plays baseball with Rick Greene, the homeowner of 51 Hinston Road, every summer and employs Green's brother.

"His brother was in here when he found out [about the fire] this morning," said Clark. "We're trying to take care of our own."

The fire ripped through the Greenes' home just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning. By 2 p.m., Clark reported that several toys and cash donations had already been collected through word of mouth on Facebook.

"People have been simply amazing," said Clark. "This is incredible, I've never seen anything like it."

As of Thursday afternoon, Clothing Warehouse had collected several toys for the Greenes' four children.

"Right now, we're trying to collect gift certificates and cash," said Clark.

A special Web site has been set up on ClothingWarehouse.com where people can donate and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Greene family.

Other donations may be dropped off at Clothing Warehouse, 65 H Industrial Way, Wilmington. According to friends of the family, clothes are needed for the family in the following sizes:

girls' size 8-10, shoe size 1-2;

boys' 18 months, shoe size 5;

boys' 2T, shoe size 8;

girls' size 6, shoe size 11W;

men's XL, size 36 x 30 pants;  and

women's 14, shoe size 7.5.
