Earth Day Festival At Spence Farm

Earth Day festival organizers encourage residents to do a "green" spring cleaning and bring down some of their clutter to be reused or recycled.

Collections at the festival include:

  • Gently used shoes for Soles4Souls (along with a $1 or $2 donation to help with shipping costs)
  • Used printer ink cartridges 
  • Used cell phones with or with out their chargers to be recycled through Planet Green
  • Rechargeable batteries (all types) to be collected by Best Buy 
  • The CD Recycling Center of America will collect unwanted CDs and DVDs and their cases, and
  • The Salvation Army will have a truck available to collect clothing and household items.

In addition to the recycling collections, there will be lots of fun activities for children and families, including:

  • A Pony Plop fundraiser
  • Petting zoo
  • Hay rides
  • Face painting
  • Bouncy house
  • Crafts
  • Games

Organizers have also planned to have representatives from at the event, and the center is donating 100 trees for residents to take home and plant. will also be there with an electric car demonstration and employees will offer information about "going green."
