Five Articles That Had Woburn Talking

A look back at the week in news in Woburn.

From a tragic accident to a special construction tour, these five stories had people talking on our Facebook page this week.

An early-morning accident on Route 93 Saturday morning claimed the life of 19-year-old Woburn resident Chris Ward. The teen's car lost control and plummeted 30-40 feet off the highway, landing on the Route 28 on-ramp. Ward was honored by friends and family at a wake Thursday, and was laid to rest on Friday at Calvary Cemetery.

Mayor Scott Galvin appealed to the City Council's Committee on Finance Monday night, asking for approval of a $475,000 appropriation to fulfill the city's Quinn Bill requirement. The bill, which pays incentives to police officers who have obtained college degrees in their field, was paid by both the city and the state. When the state stopped paying their share, Galvin consulted with officials and opted to pick up that appropriation.
