Today is Friday, April 29. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Sunshiney Friday: It’s going to be a sunny day today, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS is forecasting sunshine and temperatures above 70, as we wind down the week. Sounds like it’s going to be a great start for the weekend.        
  2. Shamrock skating: The Family Skate Night will be tonight at the . Between 5 and 6 p.m. tonight, ice skating and rentals will be free for all Shamrock families. All children under 18-years-old must be accompanied by an adult and must wear some sort of helmet.  
  3. A Grand Slam party: The PTO is sponsoring a tonight at the Moose Lodge. Tickets are $10 each and include access to a cash bar, raffles, music, and, of course, a ton of fun. Social will be from 7 p.m. to midnight.
  4. In case you missed it: The Drama Club’s spring performance——began last night. Woburn Patch stopped by dress rehearsal earlier this week and caught some of the performers practicing. .
  5. L.A. Riot: On this day in 1992, the L.A. Riot, also known as the Rodney King Uprising, began after a jury acquitted the four police officers accused in the beating of black motorist Rodney King, which was caught on video. Over the course of six days, massive rioting and looting took place that resulted in an estimated $1 billion in damage. More than 50 people died in the riot and thousands were injured.
