  1. Thunderstruck: Expect some thunder this morning as you’re getting ready for work and school. According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 1 p.m. today. Expect some rain this afternoon and into the evening. Temperatures should be a balmy 54 degrees.

  5. Grunge is dead: On this day in 1994, Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain committed suicide in his Seattle home. Cobain had begun to spiral out of control a month earlier, when he went into a coma in Italy due to a mix of alcohol and drugs. In late March, the singer’s family convinced him to go into a rehab clinic, but he walked out just days before his death. After obtaining a gun from a friend, Cobain committed suicide on April 5.
