1) Let the sunshine in: Our nice weather pattern continues today and into the weekend, as we’ll see more sun in Woburn. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will be in the mid-50s today with sunny skies. Expect much of the same on Saturday and Sunday.

2) Good Friday holiday: Today is a holiday in the city of Woburn. and public schools are closed, but Police, Fire and the Department of Public Works are open.

 

3) Event spotlight: If you are a member of the , you can head over to the Easter Egg hunt at 11:30 a.m.! Even if you’re not a member, you can still take part, but there is a fee.

 

4) In case you missed it: A Woburn Police officer suffered minor injuries Wednesday while working a detail on Montvale Avenue. A truck accidentally pulled low-hanging wires and a pole down in the construction area.

 

5) Carrying a torch: On this day in 1896, the first modern Olympic Games are held in Athens. The tradition began in Ancient Greece, but was banned by a Roman emperor. After 1,500, the games were reborn and saw athletes from 13 nations compete in the international games. There were reportedly 60,000 spectators for the games. The first recorded Olympic Games were held in 776 B.C. and then every four years during a festival honoring the Greek god Zeus.
