Today is Friday, April 8. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. The streak continues: After a beautiful and sunny day yesterday, Mother Nature is supposed to be kind to us again today. According to the National Weather Service, it will be sunny with temperatures in the 50s.

  3. Traffic advisory: Watch out for traffic issues in the North Woburn area today. From 9 a.m. to about 3 p.m. today, the Mass Highway department will be paving Main Street between the on Elm Street and the in North Woburn. Seek alternate routes if you can. Northbound traffic will be able to travel Main Street, but southbound cars will be detoured onto Elm Street. Detours will not begin until 9 a.m. so school traffic should be unaffected.

  1. The new Sultan of Swat: On this date in 1974, Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves hit his 715th career home run, breaking Babe Ruth's record of 714 homers. A crowd of 53,775 people, the largest in the history of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, was on hand when Aaron hit a fourth-inning pitch off the Los Angeles Dodgers' Al Downing, according to History.com. By the time he retired in 1976, Aaron had amassed 755 home runs, a record that would not be touched until Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants hit his 755th in 2007.
