Today is Monday, August 15. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. A dreary day: If the National Weather Service is right, we’ll have one dreary day ahead of us today. The NWS is expecting a 70 percent chance of showers, clouds and temperatures in the low 70s.
  2. A new ride: Two new 12-passenger vans were delivered to the  this week, thanks to the support of a Mobility Assistance Grant through the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation. The total cost of the 2011 Ford E 350 Phoenix vans were $104,492, of which the state funded 80 percent (or $83,593.60).
  3. Discolored water: Remember, the city is continuing to fill the new Rag Rock water tank this week and you may experience some discolored water at your homes. The tank is expected to be filled by today or Wednesday.
  4. In case you missed it: A pair of Woburnites wear their Mickey Mouse gear proudly as graduates of Disney’s semester program for college students. .
  5. Three Days of Peace & Music: On this day in 1969, the Woodstock music festival began. The event, which was originally scheduled for Woodstock, was held on Max Yasgur’s farm in White Lake, NY. The festival surpassed anyone’s expectations and was attended by half-a-million “hippies” who camped out on the farm. Many famous performances were at Woodstock, including The Who’s early morning set filled with songs from Tommy and Jimi Hendrix’s impromptu guitar solo of The Star Spangled Banner. Despite the crowd, the music festival was peaceful, living up to its name. Although attempts to replicate Woodstock have been made, the 1969 three-day festival remains as the pinnacle outdoor music fest.
