Today is Tuesday, August 2. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Cooling down: It’s going to be remarkably cooler today, if the National Weather Service forecast is correct. According to the NWS, we’ll see only 75 degrees today, but we’ll have lots of sunshine.
  2. Historical Commission: The city’s at 4 p.m. to discuss 6 Oxford Place.
  3. Challenge your teens: Join staff as they take some rubber bands, sticks and cups and make a catapult! The will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. today and is a free event as part of the summer reading program.
  4. In case you missed it: Woburn Animal Control Officer Jay Donovan reminded residents and visitors to to keep their dogs on leashes. .
  5. And weddings were never the same again: On this day in 1996, the English version of the Latin pop hit “Macarena” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The song was a huge hit, thanks to a video that showed how to do a simple line dance. And it’s been a staple at parties, wedding receptions and school dances ever since.
