  5. Fowl ball: On this day in 1983, New York Yankee outfielder Dave Winfield threw a baseball during the warm-up session and accidentally killed a seagull at Toronto's Exhibition Stadium. Fans were upset and yelled obscenities and threw objects. Following the game, Winfield was arrested for "causing unnecessary suffering to an animal."
