1) Bring on the sunshine: The forecast for today is brief, but fantastic! The National Weather Service expects sunshine and temperatures in the 50s for us in Woburn. You may need your gloves, but let’s enjoy the sun while we have it!

2) Recreation Commission: The city’s Recreation Commission will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the engineering conference room. New business on the agenda includes basketball programs, the Christmas basketball travel tournament and field permits.

 

3) Event spotlight: The store on Commerce Way is celebrating pooches and their hygiene on Thursdays. Visit the grooming salon with your dog and proof of a rabies vaccination and you can get $3 off nail trimming. No more tapping of nails on your hardwood floors!

5) Live comedy genius is born: On this day in 1940, stand-up comedian and actor Richard Pryor was born in Illinois. Pryor would become a trailblazer in the comic world, performing live for records and films. In addition to his stand-up, Pryor also starred in several feature films, including Stir Crazy, See No Evil Hear No Evil and The Wiz. Pryor was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1986 and died in 2005 after suffering a heart attack.
