1) The wind remains: Last night’s wind will likely stay with us today, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS is reporting we’ll have westerly winds between 10 and 18 miles per hour, with gusts up to 31 mph. Temperatures will stay in the mid-40s.

2) Intergenerational fun: The will host adults and their grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, for breakfast and a magic show today.

 

3) Event spotlight: The continues today at 8 a.m. Students in grades 5 through 8 will play over 100 games at the Kennedy, Joyce, Goodyear and Woburn High schools.   

 

4) In case you missed it: The holiday weekend was pretty quiet for Woburn Police, despite four arrests between Dec. 23 and 27. .

 

5) Allons au cinema!: On this day in 1895, the first commercial movie was screened in France at the Grand Café in Paris. The movie was made by brothers Louis and Auguste Lumiere, who had earlier created a camera-projector called the “cinematographe.” The brothers opened several theaters in France the following year. The first American movie theater was also built in 1896—Vitascope Hall in New Orleans.
