1) Rain likely: Looks like it’ll be another gray, dreary day in Woburn. The National Weather Service is forecasting rain in the morning and clouds the rest of the day. We may see the clouds clear in the afternoon. Temperatures will stay in the mid-40s.

2) Black History Month program: Join the St. John’s Baptist Church for a Black History Month program on the Tuskegee Airmen, an African-American fighter pilot squad from World War II. Program starts at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

3) Event spotlight: The Single Squares Hobo Dance will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Senior Center. Cost is $7. Enjoy soup, sandwiches and dancing.

4) In case you missed it: We were happy to announce that Woburn Memorial High School senior John Concannon was appointed to West Point. We want to include as many college announcements as we can! Feel free to post your own announcement here and if you have trouble, e-mail us at woburn@patch.com.

5) A marriage for funny pages: On this day in 1933, Blondie Boopadoop married her boyfriend, Dagwood Bumstead, after much fanfare. Blondie, the main character in Chic Young's comic strip that bears her name, wasn't the wife and mother we see today. According to Wikipedia, she was originally a carefree flapper girl who spent her days in dance halls. Dagwood was the son of wealthy industrialists who opposed the marriage because of Blondie's lower class status and disinherited him. However, the couple married anyway, proving that even in ink love wins out.
