Today is Thursday, Feb. 17. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Getting warmer: While it won’t exactly be hot out today, it is getting warmer in Woburn. The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in the high 40s today, as well as sunny skies. Sounds like a wonderful late winter day to us! 
  2. Commission meeting: The Handicapped and Disabled Citizens Commission monthly meeting will be held today at 6 p.m. in the Engineers’ Office. If you should require assistance to attend the meeting, call 781-897-5893 prior to the meeting. On tonight’s agenda, making the accessibility projects at all school buildings, as well as what projects may be proposed in the future.
  3. More City Hall action: While the Woburn Biomedical Oversight Commission and Sign Review Board will both meet tonight, the Traffic Commission meeting has been cancelled. The biomedical meeting will be held in the Board of Health’s conference room at 6 p.m. The sign meeting will be at 4 p.m. Both meetings have only one item on the agenda.

On this day in 1962, the Beach Boys introduced a new musical style with their hit song Surfin’. Other big beachy hits included: Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Good Vibrations and I Get Around.
