Today is Thursday, Feb. 3. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Soak up the sun: Yay! The National Weather Service is forecasting more sun today. According to the NWS, temperatures could reach freezing today. But the sunshine will be short-lived as there is another storm predicted for Saturday that could bring rain, freezing rain and… yup, you guessed it… more snow.  [Insert sad face here.]
  2. Parking ban continues: As we recover from the two storms this week, we hear that another storm is heading our way on Saturday. With that in mind, Woburn is continuing the until at least after Saturday’s storm. Stay with Woburn Patch to find out when the parking ban has been lifted. 
  3. Catch the Tanners: The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will take on Watertown High tonight at the school. Girls’ game starts at 5:30 p.m., while the boys’ game starts at 7 p.m.

  5. What’s the sign for “banana?”: On this day in 1974, a two-month-old chimpanzee named Nim Chimsky signed his first word using American Sign Language. The 70s were all about chimps, with chimps featured in movies, television and scientific studies. Nim was part of a Columbia University study on language. The groundbreaking chimp lived until 2000, when he died of a heart attack at age 26.
