1) A chance of icky: Well, some of you might not think rain and snow is icky, but we here at Woburn Patch do. We’re sorry. We’re just summer people! At any rate, the National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of rain and snow showers for our Tuesday. The skies will likely remain cloudy, but temperatures should hover in the mid-40s.

2) Save the date: If you care about the MBTA and its service in Woburn, you will want to save the date Jan. 19. The T will be on hand at City Hall to discuss the service cuts and fare hikes with residents.

 

3) Event spotlight: Woburn City Council meets tonight at City Hall Chambers at 7 p.m. On the agenda are several public hearings, including a special permit request by McDonald’s to modify a current special permit. Does that make it a special, special permit?

 

4) In case you missed it: Neighborhood restaurant unveiled a tribute to on Friday afternoon. A place where Officer Maguire responded to calls, the employees said they wanted to do something to pay tribute to ‘their cop.’ Read the story and look at photos here!

 

5) The Boston Brinks robbery: On this day in 1950, 11 men stole approximately $2.7 million from the Brinks Armored Car building in Boston. The robbers used Halloween masks to disguise their faces and copied keys to the building to gain entry and steal the money. The robbery would go unsolved for years, until one of the robbers talked to the FBI and testified against his partners in crime. Only some of the money was ever recovered and legend has it that most of it is hidden in the hills of Grand Rapids in Minnesota.
