Today is Wednesday, Jan. 19. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. More wintry ickiness: As if yesterday’s snow and rain wasn’t enough, the city will most likely see more snow showers and freezing rain today, according to the National Weather Service. The wintry precipitation will probably stop by noon, but there is a chance we’ll get snow showers around 7 p.m. tonight.
  2. Remembering Officer Maguire: The has posted a memorial to Officer Jack Maguire, who was killed in the line of duty Dec. 26, 2010, on its official Web site. Read the memorial here.
  3. Exams continue: Mid-year exams at continue today with sessions from 7:45 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Buses are available at 12:15 p.m. for dismissal. Mid-year exams will also be held Thursday and Friday.
  4. In case you missed it: School officials are asking Woburn Memorial High School students and parents what they think about moving the day of graduation from Friday to Sunday. and let us know in the what you think. 
  5. Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore”: On this day in 1809, Edgar Allan Poe was born to travelling actors in Boston. An early orphan, Poe was always interested in poetry. In January 1845, “The Raven,” one of his most famous works, was published. In the poem, the narrator deals with the loss of his beloved “Lenore” and a raven bird that flies into his home, but will only say the word “nevermore.”
