1) Morning rain: Looks like you’ll need an umbrella or a hood today on your way to work and school. According to the National Weather Service, it’s going to be rainy before 9 a.m. But with the rain comes some sun! The rest of the day will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the high 40s.

2) Planning Board: The Planning Board will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall. On the agenda are a public hearing on Spence Farm and special permit requests for the Boys & Girls Club and Motive Auto Works.

 

3) Event spotlight: You always win at Trivial Pursuit. You yell at your TV when Jeopardy! contestants get the answer wrong. You are a trivia master. Then you need to get to the Sea Dog tonight at 8 p.m. for

 

4) In case you missed it: were busy over the weekend, thanks to a snowstorm and lots of accidents. There were also other issues, including a woman arrested after an argument over juice.

 

5) This Bud’s for you: On this day in 1935, the first canned beer drink is consumed in Virginia. The American Can Company and the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company teamed up to present the canned beer to Virginians. When it was met with a favorable response, manufacturing continued and expanded. With Krueger leading the way, the other big beer companies—Anheuser-Busch, Pabst and Schlitz—followed suit. Today, nearly half of beer sales are attributed to canned drinks.
