1) Baby, it’s cold outside: It'll be the coldest weather we’ve seen this winter, as we’re expecting to start our day in the low 20s! The “high” temperature for today is 25, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS is also forecasting wind chills as low as -7. Brrrrrr!

2) Trash delayed: Don’t forget, your trash pick-up will be a day late thanks to the New Year’s holiday observance Monday.

3) Web spotlight: Did you know that you can now create your own “dashboard” at the City of Woburn website? That’s right! Log in with your Facebook account, or create a new account specifically for the site, and customize your web experience. You can put “widgets” on your dashboard of your favorite departments. Of course, Woburn Police, Fire and “Latest News” is at the top of our dashboard!

4) In case you missed it: Mayor Scott Galvin addressed the city during his Monday.

5) The Boston Strangler strikes: On this day in 1964, the Boston Strangler raped and killed his 13 th victim, Mary Sullivan, in her city apartment. The Boston Strangler, later identified as Albert DeSalvo, raped and killed several women between 1962 and 1964, always tying the rope or cord used to strangle them in a bow. In addition to the bow, the Strangler left a “Happy New Year” card next to Mary Sullivan’s body in 1964. Although DeSalvo admitted to the crimes to his cellmate in prison, he was never tried or convicted for the Strangler’s murders. Instead, he was given a life sentence for a string of rapes he committed throughout New England between 1960 and 1962. DeSalvo was killed by a prisoner while in Walpole State Prison in 1973.
