1) Clouds, snow and rain… oh my!: Today’s going to be a bit of everything, according to the National Weather Service. Looks like snow showers before noon, rain showers after and clouds all day. Kind of dreary, huh? Temperatures will hover in the high-30s, low-40s, says the NWS.

2) Forks Over Knives: The is hosting a special screening of the film “Forks Over Knives” at 6 p.m. tonight. Meg from will also be on hand to talk about snacking. Today is also your last chance to sign up for the supermarket’s Engine 2 28-Day Challenge Program.

 

3) Event spotlight: The city’s campaign kicks off tonight with an informational session at the St. Anthony’s Club, 1020 Main St. Learn about the Woburn Relay, which will occur May 18 and 19, and find out how you can get involved!

 

4) In case you missed it: A Lowell man was arrested this weekend in Woburn after drinking at a friend’s house and then attempting to drive home. He didn’t get far, as struck a street sign, fire hydrant and a residence stone wall. Read all about and

 

5) The Cold War gets underway: On this day in 1950, President Harry S. Truman announces to the public that he has supported the development of the world’s first hydrogen bomb. The weapon, which was the believed to be hundreds of times more powerful than the atomic bombs possessed by America, was successfully detonated in 1952. By 1955, the Cold War was in full swing as Russia also detonated a hydrogen bomb.
