Today is Friday, July 15. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Woo hoo: What a way to end the week! The National Weather Service is predicting that we’ll have sunny skies all day today with temperatures reaching 81 degrees. Expect it to stay clear tonight with temps dipping into the 60s.
  2. Literature & ice cream a winning pair: The Senior Center is hosting “” today. Find out more about this program in our .
  3. Liqueur tasting: The store on Main Street is hosting a today from 4 to 6 p.m. The drink was inspired by the French tradition of creating fresh and sweet elixirs, says the store.
  4. In case you missed it: Schools reporter Nadine Wandzilak trekked out in the heat and sunshine this week to check in on the middle school roofs projects at Joyce and Kennedy. !
  5. I Walk The Line: On this day in 1986, country music legend Johnny Cash was dumped by longtime record label Columbia Records. Cash had been with the company for 26 years, and released a number of hit records and albums including: Don’t Take Your Guns To Town, Ring of Fire, I Walk The Line, Folsom Prison Blues and Man in Black. But Cash was no longer making cash for Columbia and he was unceremoniously dumped by the label. Cash bounced back though, releasing several albums with Mercury, before teaming up with Rick Rubin in 1994. We can thank that partnership for the song, “Hurt,” one of the most haunting and sad songs Woburn Patch has heard.
