Here are five things you need to know today:

1) Thunder buddies for life!

You're going to need those thunder buddies again today, as we have a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. The National Weather Service says Woburn will have a high of temperature of 90 degrees. A light wind will help relieve us of the heat!

2) Ancestry fun

One of Woburn's big names is Wyman. In fact, we even have the Wyman School. The Wyman family dates back to the 1500s in England with the Richardsons. During the fourth generation, Elizabeth Richardson married Francis Wymant (that's the correct spelling, not a typo!) and their son, John, moved from England to Woburn before his death in 1684. In the eighth generation of the family, Abigail Wyman was born on this day (July 18) in 1722 in Woburn. 

3) Event Spotlight

4) In Case You Missed It

So... There was ? On Route 128? Something like a tanker rolling over and completely unloading its entire stock of 10,000 gallons of gasoline? Yeah. It shut down Route 128 for eight hours. Of course, we were on top of things and had the whole story for you. ! 

5) Chappaquiddick.

Say that word in Massachusetts and anyone over 30 years old will know exactly what you're talking about. On this day in 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy drove his car off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island. He escaped his submerged car, but his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, died. It took Kennedy 10 hours to report the incident to police. The senator pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and received a two-month suspended sentence and a year-long license suspension. The Chappaquiddick accident followed Kennedy for the rest of his life, but never derailed his political career. He served 47 years in the U.S. Senate before his death in 2009, 40 years after Chappaquiddick.
