Five Things You Need to Know Today, June 15

The SCI Food and Wine event is tonight.

"Five Things You Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance. Let us know what you think of the feature in the comments section.

Today is Wednesday, June 15. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Championship weather: It looks like it’s going to be a banner day here in Woburn with mostly sunny skies and temperatures nearing 73 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Hmmm. 73 degrees, eh? And who is Woburn Patch’s favorite Boston Bruin? That’s right, . It’s fate.
  2. Food and wine event: Before the Bruins hit the ice tonight, head over to the Griffin Museum of Photography for the SCI Woburn Food and Wine Pairing event. You’ll learn about what foods go with what wines and have a chance to sample the pairings. .
  3. Fun with eBay: There are lots of neat Woburn items available on eBay today, with many historical postcards at the top of the list. But we were intrigued by the I.E. & L.C. Williams Fine Shoes “trade card” from the 1880s. This card is from a business in the “Dow’s Block” and is an example of a “Victorian trade card.” Check it out here (link will take you off of Woburn Patch).
  4. In case you missed it: We want to hear from you, the readers, on how you’ll be . Be sure to and let us know where in Woburn you’re taking your dad, what you’ll be buying him and how you’re going to spend Sunday with pop!
  5. Generous Geminis: Were you born on June 15? According to the How Stuff Works web site, that means you are a “generous Gemini” who is “eminently lovable.” If you were born today, you should embrace variety—hey, it is the spice of life, right?—and the joy of giving. But, you should avoid playing favorites and indecisiveness! Oh, and it you’re in the market for a new job, think sales, realty, counseling or the law.
