Today is Monday, June 27. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Here comes the sun: After a lot of cloudy weather, the sun is back in Woburn today. Or at least it’s forecasted to be! According to the National Weather Service, we should see sun and temperatures in the low 80s. That sounds like a nice way to kick off the week, yes?
  2. Happy Last Day of School: Today is the last day of school for Woburn Public Schools. Kids, we hope you have a wonderful summer! Parents, we hope you have lots of activities planned for the kids, so they’re not bothering you too much!
  3. Meeting: The city’s Board of Appeals is meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. The board will conduct a site visit to Oxford Place.
  4. In case you missed it: Superintendent Mark Donovan announced Friday that a new principal for the was chosen last week. .
  5. Are you lonesome tonight?: On this day in 1968, Elvis Presley filmed what became known as his critically-acclaimed “comeback special.” The show, which aired on NBC, was Elvis’ first special after a series of movie and musical flops over the last decade. The show was taped after Elvis' Hawaiian vacation, when he returned recharged and ready to go, and is considered a legendary performance by the singer.
