Today is Tuesday, March 1. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Chasing the blues away: Yesterday’s weather was downright dismal. Yuck. Between freezing rain, torrential downpours and puddles, it was one big mess. But the sun is expected to shine bright today, and bring us temperatures in the mid-30s.
  2. Busy night for city officials: Four city boards and commissions will meet tonight at and the . City Council will hold its first meeting of the month at 7:30 p.m., while Planning Board and the Redevelopment Authority will also meet. All three meetings are at City Hall. The Woburn Board of Library Trustees will also meet tonight at the library.
  3. Redistricting: The redistricting meetings at the elementary schools start tonight with a . The meeting is expected to last one hour and will be from 6 to 7 p.m.
  4. In case you missed it: Woburn isn’t just known as the City of Champions for nothing! The Woburn Memorial High School boys’ and girls’ basketball and hockey teams are embarking on the playoffs this week. .
  5. Quack, quack, quack, Mr. Ducksworth: On this day in 1993, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks joined the National Hockey League. The team, which was then owned by Disney, was named after the 1992 Emilio Estevez/Joshua Jackson flick “The Mighty Ducks.” Interestingly enough, when the Ducks dropped the “mighty” from its name, the team went on to win the Stanley Cup. Coincidence? Hmmmmm.
