A tragic wedding anniversary...

Today is Friday, March 11. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. At least it’s not snow: We’re always trying to look on the bright side of things. Today’s weather is going to be pretty gloomy. But at least it’s only rain! The National Weather Service is forecasting a 100-percent chance of precipitation today. But temperatures will be in the low 50s. That’s pretty sweet.
  2. At the end of the rainbow: There’s a pot of gold! There’s still time to buy tickets for the Pot of Gold raffle fundraiser. Tickets are $100 each and are available for easy purchase through the club’s Web site.
  3. Fuel up: We haven’t looked at gas prices in awhile, so let’s take a look at GasBuddy.com. According to the Web site, King Petroleum is still the best deal in town, but even its prices have gone up in the last week. King Petroleum is currently at $3.37 per gallon, is at $3.43 and and are at $3.47.
  4. In case you missed it: The always-awesome Rick Nohl traveled to Merrimack College Wednesday night to photograph the boys’ ice hockey team for There are some great action shots, as well as crowd shots.
  5. Star-cross lovers: According to William Shakespeare, today is the anniversary of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who in the story Romeo and Juliet, were married on this day in 1302. The young couple was wed by Friar Laurence in secret due to a rivalry between their two families. Sadly, as we all know, the marriage was a short one as both characters ended their own lives after miscommunication leads them to believe the other is dead. Tellingly, their loss led both families to recognize the pointlessness of the long-standing feud.
