Today is Tuesday, March 22. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Sun, maybe: You know, we’re starting to doubt the National Weather Service forecasts… Yesterday, it said maybe some rain and it snowed all day. Hopefully it’ll be right today, as the NWS is forecasting sunny skies and temperatures in the high 40s.
  2. Money, money, money: School money, that is! The School Committee will hold a budget meeting tonight at the conference room starting at 6:30 p.m. We have been keeping a close eye on the school budget, read all about it and .
  3. Eat for energy: The Be Well Woburn group has put together a , which will be held at tonight at 6:30 p.m. You must pre-register for the class, so check out the Web site or stop by the Recreation Department to reserve your spot.
  4. In case you missed it: Our patchtastic Whiz Kid of the Week was none other than , a 9-year-old helper-extraordinaire at home. Kelsey is a great student, is working on perfect attendance, and always has her parents’ back when it comes to tidying up around the house. !
  5. Taxation without representation: On this day in 1765, the British imposed the Stamp Act on the 13 American colonies. The tax would help Britain pay off debts and was levied on all materials printed for commercial and legal use. But the tax was met with opposition from the colonists who were sick and tired of being taxed by the British. They’d already accepted paying fees on imported textiles, sugar and other goods, as well as the Currency Act, which declined the value of the paper dollar. Then the colonists were told they had to house British soldiers. Enough was enough, said the colonies, who grumbled about “taxation without representation.” The Stamp Act was eventually repealed a year later, when the Brits realized it was costing them too much to enforce it.
