Today is Thursday, March 3. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Back to winter: What a difference a day makes. While temperatures were close to 50 yesterday, it’s barely going to make it out of the 20s today. The National Weather Service is forecasting sunny skies, but frigid temps for today. 
  2. Storytime: Bring your little pre-schoolers to the for This is a great chance for your little ones to dress up, enjoy a royal story, and some tasty treats. Make sure to call ahead to the Children’s Room and inform staffers about any allergies.

  4. In case you missed it: In an effort to include more video on Woburn Patch, we posted a video story discussing the Clapp School lease meetings that will be held at City Hall next week.
  5. Public enemy: On this day in 1934, John Dillinger, the infamous gangster who terrorized the Midwest in the 1930s, escaped from prison using a wooden gun. According to the FBI, Dillinger told authorities he whittled a gun out of wood and used it to force prison guards at the Crown Point, IN county jail to open his cell. Once free, Dillinger grabbed two machine guns and locked up the guards and others. The gangster stole the county sheriff’s car and drove across state lines, which was a federal offense and brought the FBI into the case. Dillinger was killed later that year by FBI agents who learned of his plans and confronted him outside a theater on July 22.
