Today is Thursday, March 31. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. The streak continues: Although temperatures are expected to stay in the high 40s today, the National Weather Service is forecasting clouds and a 20 percent chance of rain after 11 a.m. today.  And Friday? Well, let's not talk about Friday yet. 
  2. Potluck yumminess: The community will host a at tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Although a main course will be provided, families are encouraged to bring their own special dishes and share with others.
  3. Math workshop: Parents interested in the public schools’ Math Expressions program used to instruct students can attend a at the tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The workshop is open to all parents.
  4. In case you missed it: A group of on Burlington Street Tuesday afternoon. The teens were locked out of one’s house, and opted to light a leaf on fire, triggering a brush fire. .
  5. Early women’s lib: On this date in 1776, Abigail Adams wrote to her husband, urging him to “remember the ladies” when fighting in the American Revolution. Adams, who would later become First Lady, wrote, “Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands. Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation." Abigail’s letter was a first step in the women’s civil rights movement and came nearly 150 years before women obtained the right to vote in America.
