Today is Monday, March 7. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Rainy days: It’s most likely going to be another gray, winter day today, as the National Weather Forecast is expecting rainfall all day today. After 4 p.m., the rain could turn to snow, but it won’t add up to much. Hopefully! Temperatures will stay in the 40s most of the day and could get as low as the mid-20s at night. And, according to weather.com, that’s exactly where we should be, as the average temperatures for this time of year are between 44 and 23 degrees.
  2. Special meeting: The City Council Committee on Finance will hold a to discuss the from the School Committee and Mayor Scott Galvin. The meeting is expected to draw a large crowd and will be held in Council Chambers at instead of in the committee room. Meeting starts at 7 p.m.
  3. Redistricting: If you are a parent, you are encouraged to attend the School Department’s next year. The meeting is expected to last an hour and will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.
  4. In case you missed it: responded to an . When firefighters arrived, the fire had spread to the exterior of the car. WFD quickly extinguished the blaze, but the car was a total loss. .
  5. Mr. Watson, come here, I need you: On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell received a patent for his famous invention—the telephone. Bell used electric current, wires and plates to transmit messages.
