We're expecting gorgeous weather today.

 

Here are five things you need to know today:

1) Now we're cooking!: Today will be beautiful with sunshine and some wind. The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 65 degrees with a strong south or southwesterly wind as high as 22 miles per hour. How nice is that 65 degrees? Our average high temperature for March is 44!

2) Make a difference:  Find out how at Training is being offered at 6 p.m. tonight at 100 Main St.  By becoming a Beacon Hospice volunteer, you can make a difference to someone suffering from a terminal illness.

3) Event spotlight: The will take place tonight 7 p.m. at the 679 Main St.

5) Right on, man: On this day in 1950, Volkswagen, makers of the now infamous "Beetle," introduced the microbus. The concept of a small bus was the idea of Dutch businessman Ben Pon who sketched it in 1947. Volkswagen engineers took the idea and in March of 1950 it went into production. In Eurpopean countries, it became know as the "Combi," "Splittie" and "Bulli." It was known to some in the US as a "hippie van," as many young people would ride in them to concerts and anti-war rallies.
