1) Yep, you guessed it: More rain. The National Weather Service is forecasting more rain showers today before 11 a.m. The NWS has also issued a hazardous weather outlook, asking residents to beware of possible flooding due to drainage issues, especially during downpours. Our temperature will be in the high 60s for most of the day, before hitting 48 degrees tonight.

5) End of Apartheid: On this day in 1994, long-time political activist and political prisoner Nelson Mandela was sworn in as the first black president of South Africa. Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist and the leader and co-founder of the Umkhonto we Sizwe, an armed wing of the African National Congress. In 1962, he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and served 27 years of a life sentence in prison. Once released, he led his party in the establishment of a democracy, which was formed in 1994. The date of the election (April 27), which brought Mandela and his party into power, is now a national holiday in South Africa.
