Today is Wednesday, May 11. Here are five things you need to know:
- Even more clouds: It’s been a cloudy week so far and the National Weather Service expects it to continue today. The NWS is forecasting a chance of showers before noon and clouds all day. Temperatures will be in low 60s today. At least that’s a little warmer than yesterday.
- Special meeting: The City Council will hold a special meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at . The council is expected to receive the fiscal 2012 budget from Mayor Scott Galvin.
- Agricultural Commission: It’s almost Farmers’ Market time! The city’s Agricultural Commission will meet tonight at 6 p.m. to discuss plans for the upcoming Farmers’ Market at , which is expected to begin next month.
- In case you missed it: Woburn Patch has been following the process of eighth-graders as they maneuver their way through an interdisciplinary English Language Arts and History project. Last week, the youths wrapped up the project and read from their essays. .
- A plethora of turtles: On this day in 1503, explorer Christopher Columbus and his crew spotted the sandy beaches of the Cayman Islands. The islands were so full of turtles that Columbus called them Los Tortugas. The name was changed about 30 years later to Caymanas, which means “alligator.” Either way, these pretty islands appear to be full of animals!
