Today is Friday, May 20. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Slight chance of rain: Well, even with the clouds, I did get to say hello to my sunglasses yesterday. Watch out, those clouds can be bright! Today, the National Weather Service is expecting a slight chance of showers and… wait for it… partly sunny skies. Yay! Temperatures will be in the mid 60s, said the NWS.
  2. : It just wouldn’t be a carnival without the rain. But with partly sunny skies in the forecast today, there is a chance that the carnival will be open tonight. And that would mean lots of fun for all, who have been waiting all week to have a little fun this weekend.
  3. Fun with eBay: Taking a look at eBay this week, there is a lot of cool Woburn-related items. An early view of Mishawum Road is here, but is undated. You can also find a babingtonite crystal from “the noted Blueberry Mountain Quarry.”
  4. In case you missed it: Each week, we look at a restaurant where you can enjoy some “bites nearby.” This week, we checked out the , where you can find all sorts of delicious ethnic favorites all in one restaurant. Read all about it here!
  5. Forever in blue jeans: On this day in 1873, the blue jeans were born. Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis received a patent to make work pants with metal rivets—now commonly known as jeans. The jeans used metal rivets on stress points, at the corners of pockets and at the base of the button fly, to make them stronger. And everyone’s favorite pair of pants was born!
