1)  Rain, rain -- still a chance of showers:  Yup, we still have a chance (40 percent) of showers and possible thunderstorms today, possibly after noon.  The temperature will remain around 80 degrees. Tomorrow’s forecast looks sunnier.

2)  For those of you marking summer school vacation on your calendars, and asked us about the first day of school in September:  Woburn public school students traditionally start school the Thursday after Labor Day, according to the school administration office. That would make the first day of school for the 2012-2013 year Sept. 6. Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 3.

3)  Music in the air:  Students from the Joyce and Kennedy Middle Schools will perform tonight in their Springfest Concert. The concert will be held at the Kennedy Middle School on Middle Street. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and it’s free.

4)  In Case You Missed It:  The last day of school for students in Woburn public schools – except, of course, for WMHS seniors, who graduate Sunday, if the weather’s nice – is June 19, a Tuesday. It’s a half day, so elementary school students will be dismissed at noon; middle schoolers at 11:30 a.m.; and high schoolers at 11 a.m.

5)  Ah, a wedding:  Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, was the bride-to-be in the film version of “Sex and the City,” which premiered on this day in 2008.  The TV series of the same featured Bradshaw and her three girlfriends, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda and their adventures in the Big Apple. Also on the big screen at that time:  “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
