1) Afternoon showers: So much for all that beautiful sunshine we had yesterday! The National Weather Service is forecasting rain showers after noon today and temperatures near 60. After dark, we may hear some thunder rumbling in the skies.

2) Kiwanis meeting: The will meet today at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 101 on Lexington Street. 

 

3) Special meeting: The City Council has announced a special meeting for tonight at 6 p.m. According to the notice, the aldermen will discuss a bond authorization for water meters. 

 

4) In Case You Missed It: It was a busy weekend for Woburn Police as they responded to several emergencies and arrested three people. In one incident, a teen followed her father to his girlfriend's house and threw a flowerpot at the woman's car. In another, a man walked into the police station bleeding profusely from a stab wound. 5) Up your nose with a rubber hose: On this day in 1976, the theme song to the hit television series "Welcome Back, Kotter" was number one on the Billboard music charts. The song—"Welcome Back"—was written and recorded by John Sebastian of Lovin' Spoonful. The show featured several characters known to pop culture enthusiasts everywhere, including Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington, Arnold Horshack and, of course, Vinnie Barbarino (played by John Travolta).
