Five Things You Need to Know Today, Nov. 1

The YMCA has teamed up with the Council for Social Concern for a charitable deal.

Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1) More sun: Expect some more sunshine today, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS is reporting today will be mostly sunny, with temperatures around 49 degrees. Maybe with some more sun today, we’ll lose all that snow that was left in Woburn this weekend?

2) City Council tonight: The City Council will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Chambers. According to the agenda, public hearings will be held on declaring 602 Main St. as a nuisance, the Festival on the Common special permit request and a 98-unit condo complex on Main Street.

5) That’s one heck of a ceiling: On this day in 1512, the Sistene Chapel in Rome’s new ceiling was shown to the public for the first time. The ceiling was painted by Italian artist Michaelangelo and is considered to be one of his finest works. The ceiling took years to finish and features nine panels depicting biblical history, including the creation of Adam.
