Five Things You Need to Know Today, Nov. 15

WMHS students' Homecoming dance is this weekend.

Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1) Rain likely: Although we’ll have some rain today, probably after 11 a.m., the temperatures will remain unseasonably high. According to the National Weather Service, it may reach the mid-60s today. The clouds will stay with us for most of the day and into the night.

2) WMHS Homecoming: The will hold its annual Homecoming Dance this Friday. Only WMHS students are eligible to attend. Tickets are $12 and will be sold at the school before and after classes and during lunch.

3) Event spotlight: The on Merrill Street is holding youth classes today at 4:30 p.m. Students are grouped by age (5-7 years old, 8-12 years old, 13-17 years old) for class. Two free classes are offered before students pay tuition.

 

4) In case you missed it: Woburn Police are investigating a string of vandalism incidents from late Thursday, early Friday. According to police, spraypaint was used and toys were left. .

 

5) A 60s protest: On this day in 1966, General Earle Wheeler, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was speaking at Brown University when over 60 students walked out in protest. The students who stayed yelled at Wheeler and heckled him, while others tried to rush the stage. The protest was against Wheeler’s defense of the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam conflict.
