Five Things You Need to Know Today, Nov. 17

It's an early dismissal day for elementary students today.

Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1) Chilly rains: Seems like we’ll see some more rain today! The National Weather Service is forecasting at 50 percent chance of rain today, with the sky clearing around 9 p.m. Temperatures are expected to stay in the 40s. Brrrr!

2) Early day: In case you forgot, the elementary schools will have a half-day today. We’re pretty sure your kids have reminded you, but just in case… School is dismissed at 12:30 p.m. for parent-teacher conferences. Lunch will be served to students before dismissal.

3) Event spotlight: The Salter Healthcare organization is holding a today at 11:40 a.m. Transportation via the van is available with a $2 donation. For more information, click here.

 

4) In case you missed it: visited the center earlier this week to talk about fire safety with the students.

 

5) I am not a crook: On this day in 1973, President Richard Nixon told reporters he was “not a crook” during a televised question and answer session with the Associated Press. Pres. Nixon made the famous declaration when asked about his role in the Watergate burglary. The presidential eventually resigned from office in 1974, during a federal investigation into his role in Watergate.
