The Silver Screen Classics series continues at Showcase Cinemas today.

Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1) Build your ark yet?: We might see more rain today, sigh. But, the National Weather Service expects it to lighten up by 11 a.m. From there, sunny skies and temps in the low 60s, says the NWS.

2) Swimming: The will open its pool tonight at for a family and tot swim session. Cost is $3; no pre-registration required.

3) Event spotlight: The continues today with a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much.” The 1934 thriller is a story of kidnapping and secrets. Showing is at 1 p.m. and tickets are only $2.

 

4) In case you missed it: The city is well on its way to celebrating Halloween later this month.

 

5) Scarface goes to prison: On this day in 1931, famed gangster Al Capone, aka Scarface, lands in prison on tax evasion charges. The gangster committed several crimes, including murder, but only the tax evasion charges managed to stick. Capone’s notorious reputation got him transferred to Alcatraz in California, where he served the rest of his sentence until 1939. Capone would die early, at age 48, in 1947.
