5) Carlton Fisk rounds the bases: On this day in 1975, Boston Red Sox catcher Carlton Fisk would hit a home run that curled around the famous yellow pole in right field at Fenway Park, leading the Sox to a game 6 win in the World Series. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, Fisk’s magical home run wasn’t enough to win the World Series—they lost game 7 by a score of 4-3.
