Snow? Really?

Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1) SNOW?!: Isn’t that just a dreary thought? The National Weather Service is forecasting a 100 percent chance of precipitation today, along with temperatures in the mid-40s. The NWS says we’ll see rain today, but snow tonight.

2) Pardon us while we repeat ourselves: We know, we know, we said this yesterday. But it’s really important! Route 38 will be closed all the way from the Winchester line to the Route 128 rotary between noon and 4 p.m. Sunday due to the . It will be closed in both directions.

3) Event spotlight: The will hold for children today at 9:30 a.m. (for toddlers ages 2 and a half to 3) and 11 a.m. (for children 4 to 5 years old).

5) A New York institution: On this day in 1904, the New York subway began connecting New Yorkers through a new rapid transit system. The NYC subway is the largest underground transit system, but isn’t the oldest—that title belongs to our very own T system here in Massachusetts. The first subway line connected New York’s City Hall in Manhattan to Grand Central Station in midtown to Times Square and all the way to Harlem. The subway now has 26 lines and almost 500 stations.
