1) Event spotlight

The parish is celebrating 150 years with a 5K run and 1.5-mile walk on Sunday at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served and there will be awards in several age groups. All the details can be found in the .

2) Softball tournament

The Woburn Men's Softball team will take part in the on Saturday. There will be a pre-tourny party at tonight at 7 p.m. Games begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and will continue until 6 p.m. There will be food, raffles and children's activities all day. All proceeds go to cancer research.

 

3) Lovely end to the week

According to the National Weather Service, our lovely fall weather will continue today in Woburn! Expect sunshine and temperatures in the high-70s. There will be a light wind in the afternoon and a possible chance of showers at night. Sunshine is also forecasted for both Saturday and Sunday.

It was announced Thursday that this week was Glen Doherty, a Winchester native whose mother lives in Woburn. . . 

 

5) Clapton song hits #1

On this day in 1974, Eric Clapton's hit "I Shot the Sheriff" was named number one on the Billboard charts.  The song was not the first single about crime to be a hit. "Stagger Lee," about the theft of a Stetson hat that leads to murder, has been recorded by many popular artists, and a song was also written about the assassination of President William McKinley ("White House Blues").
